Beyond Possible Day 3 - May 1

Today we are reading just the first 3 verses of Genesis chapter 2. Highlight the
words “the seventh day.” What’s so special about this day?

Later in the Exodus account God invites us into the sacred space to have
fellowship with Him on the seventh day – i.e. a day of sabbath rest. Reflect on
Exodus 20:8–11 – “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: 9  You are to labor

six days and do all your work, 10  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your
God. You must not do any work—you, your son or daughter, your male or female
servant, your livestock, or the resident alien who is within your city gates. 11  For the
Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and everything in them in six days;
then he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day
and declared it holy.”

Do you have a sabbath day of rest when you do no work? Hebrews 4: 9 states “a
Sabbath rest remains for God’s people.”

To live ‘beyond possible’ begins with the basic practice of taking a 24-hour time
from sundown to sundown. (For me <Pastor Michael Lewis>, I make sundown
Thursday to sundown on Friday a time of rest to connect deeply with the Lord and
the near ones in my life.)

Respond in prayer – “Lord, You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth. I
recognize that You rested on the Seventh day not because You were tired or
weary…. But You desired a sacred space where I could fellowship deeply with you
by entering Your rest. May Your Spirit lead me to honor You on a day of sabbath
rest, for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!”
