“Beyond Possible” is the theme of our study through the book of Hebrews chapter 11.
Today let’s read Genesis chapter 4 where Cain and Abel’s story is told; this
account is highlighted in Hebrews 11: 4. As you read this chapter, what is a
highlight to you? How would you explain this highlight to a friend? What application
can be made to your faith journey? Write an expression of your heart to God.
Let’s focus on Hebrews 11:4 - “By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than
Cain did. By faith, he was approved as a righteous man, because God approved
his gifts, and even though he is dead, he still speaks through his faith.” What
caused Abel’s sacrifice to God to be accepted? What application can we make to
our worship of God?
Pause and reflect – What sacrifice will you offer to God in worship? Pray to have a
heart like Abel’s … one of humble faith in God, giving Him the very best. Pray to
resist a heart like Cain’s … one of reluctance and hesitancy, based on one’s ability.
