Christmas is over, what’s next? This is the topic of today’s sermon. Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on the Gospel of Luke chapter 4, verses 1 – 13. What do you learn? Any highlights from your reading.
Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs. 1 – 2 – “Jesus … full of the Spirit was led by the Spirit in the wildernesss for 40 days to be TEMPTED by the devil.”
CONSIDER – What Bible verse can you write down on a card (or sticky note) and commit to memory this week? Get serious about resisting temptation by Scripture memory.
Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs. 1 – 2 – “Jesus … full of the Spirit was led by the Spirit in the wildernesss for 40 days to be TEMPTED by the devil.”
- Jesus was tempted ; he was enticed to do wrong by the enticement and deception of the devil.
- Just as the devil tempted Jesus, so he tempts you and me as His followers.
- What do you tell the devil when He tempts you? Consider Jesus’ response – Vs.4, 5, 12 ; Jesus quoted the Bible to the devil.
- As you are tempted by the devil, quote aloud God’s Word.
