Galatians Devotional - February 3

Read & Reflect
Today, we begin a six-week deep dive into the New Testament letter to the Galatians. Let’s
prayerfully read Galatians 1 and allow the Holy Spirit to illuminate its truth in our hearts.
 What stands out as a highlight?
 How might this apply to your life?
 What does this passage do to your heart? (Write out a prayer of response)

Background on Galatians
This letter was written by the apostle Paul to newly converted Christians in Galatia (modern-day Turkey). Paul had personally preached the Gospel to these believers during his 1st & 2nd missionary journeys (Acts 13-18).
However, false teachers had infiltrated the church, distorting the true Gospel and burdening
believers with legalism. Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, writes to correct, encourage, and remind them of the freedom found in Christ alone.

Zoom Into Galatians 1:1-5
Verse 1 – “Paul”
 Paul was once a persecutor of Christians, but after his encounter with Jesus on the road
to Damascus (Acts 9), he became one of the greatest messengers of the Gospel.
 How does Paul describe himself in verse 1?
o “Apostle” – meaning one who is sent with a commission (like an ambassador or
messenger).
o Where did he receive his commission? ________________
o Why do you think this is significant? ________________

Verses 2-3 – Paul’s greeting
 Paul blesses the churches with grace and peace.
 Who can you speak words of blessing to today? ________________

Verse 2 – “All the brothers who are with me”
 Paul was not alone—his ministry was supported by faithful friends.
 Who are some faithful friends in your life? ________________
 Pause and thank God for them. Maybe even send a text of appreciation to a few!

Verses 4-5 – Celebrate Your Identity in Christ!
 Jesus gave Himself for _______ _______ to rescue us from this present age.
 Why did Jesus die? ________________
 For whom did Jesus die? ________________
 Take a moment to sense God’s deep, personal love for you. If you were the only person
who needed saving, He still would have gone to the cross just for you!

Pause & Consider
You are God’s apostle—His representative, ambassador, and messenger—to the people in your daily life.Pray for the Spirit of God to use you to express His love and light. Ask for opportunities to share the Gospel this week.

Prayer of Response
Lord, thank You for the transforming power of Your Gospel. Just as You called Paul, You have also called me to be Your representative in this world. Help me to embrace my identity in You, to walk in the freedom of grace, and to share the truth of the Gospel with those around me. Open my eyes to the opportunities You provide, and fill my heart with boldness to proclaim Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • What truth from Galatians 1 will you carry with you today? How will you live as God’s
ambassador?
