updated 5/28/2020

Thank you for being faithful to pray for us as we have been working on our plans to worship together again on Sunday, June 7. This has been a process to create an experience for us to come together in a safe environment enabling us to worship freely.

If you have experienced any COVID-19 related symptoms in the last two weeks, if you have compromising health issues, or if you’re not quite ready to venture out, please join us for worship online from the comfort of your home. Visit the church website ( and click on the LIVESTREAM Button to watch the service. We love and care for you and want to protect you.

Social Distancing has been our biggest challenge to provide for both seating and at the same time your safety. Therefore, due to the limited seating, we have found it necessary to take reservations for each of the services. Please click on the link below to register for 9 am or 11 am or call the church office between 9 am and 3 pm, Monday thru Thursday. If these should fill up, we will offer another service.

Thank you for remaining prayerful and flexible during these times.

June 7 Service Registration  registration available beginning Monday, June 1

LIMITED SEATING:  To ensure social distancing, it is necessary to limit the people in the facilities. Ushers will help to guide you to your seat. Seating will be by sections, from front to back, for the number in your reservation.

INCREASED CLEANING:  The Worship Center and high traffic areas will be thoroughly sanitized before and after the services. We have planned in our service schedule sufficient time to allow for cleaning. We thank you in advance for exiting the facility promptly to help us prepare for the disinfecting of the facility.

MASKS:  Masks are not required. If you feel more comfortable with a mask, please bring one with you.

HAND SANITIZER STATIONS:  Hand sanitizers will be available as you approach the Worship Center and in the foyer.

SOCIAL DISTANCING:  A six-foot requirement will be adhered to upon entering the building. We will seat people every other row and ask that you maintain 3 seats between your family unit and the others in your row. Additionally, we ask that there be no congregating within the facility.

TOUCHLESS ENVIRONMENT:  We will all refrain from hugs and handshakes. Your smile and greeting will go a long way. If you cannot refrain, please keep it to an elbow bump. Also, the drinking fountains will not be available. You may want to bring a bottle of water in case you become thirsty.

Some of our groups are choosing to meet virtually from their homes or offices and others are meeting with Social Distancing, in the Gym or Auditorium. All classes choosing to meet are doing so at times other than Sunday mornings. We would love for you to join a group where you can build relationships.

Email to get connected to one.

This Sunday, I will continue in the series “2020: How Are You Feeling?”.   The title for message #7 in this series is “Freed From the Jail of Jealousy”.

Would you like to be a part of a prayer group that meets once a week to pray together for personal and corporate revival? Pastor Glen Rowden is coordinating prayer groups of 2 to 8 people that will meet once a week for 15 to 30 minutes. The groups can meet now either on Zoom or in small groups with social distancing. If you are desiring to “pray all the harder”, please contact him at

  • For the wisdom and guidance that is needed as we continue to work on the plans for when we can come back together for worship and Bible Study and doing future ministry together.
  • As we continue to prepare for the weekly messages online.
  • For each of the age group ministries (preschool – adults) and the continued connection process with our church families.
  • For sensitivity to our community that we may be a light during this pandemic.
  • For sensitivity to our church family and the benevolent needs that may arise.
  • For our country’s leaders.
  • For each other and believers who are scattered and isolated all over our globe.

Have you noticed that Pastor Glen Rowden has been connecting on Sarasota Baptist Church’s Facebook page live on Tuesday afternoons? He is presenting a couple of questions that follow up with Pastor Mike’s message on Sundays. You may want to check it out as he reviews Pastor Mike’s message, “Rebounding from Rejection”. If you miss his live communication on Tuesday afternoons, it is still available for you to view on the church’s Facebook page.

Remember that Right Now Media is a great source for you, your friends, family and neighbors to participate in a Bible Study. You could encourage others to do an online study with you and then follow up with a phone call to discuss it.

I want you to know that we miss seeing and serving beside you, too, and are continuing to pray for you. The ability to submit prayer requests each week and pray for these requests has always been a vital part of our church ministry. I encourage you to continue to submit your prayer requests by locating the PRAYER & CONNECTION CARD on the front page of our CHURCH WEBSITE ( and continue to send them to us. Also, you can still call the church office and leave a message, send an email to, or mail the request to our address:  Sarasota Baptist Church, 7091 Proctor Rd., Sarasota, FL  34241 (Attn: Stephanie Hayes)
