Prayerfully read & reflect on Judges chapter 2. What can we learn about ‘passing our faith on to the next generation?’
Joshua called the people to action prior to His death – “Fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth… Choose for yourselves whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24: 14,15).
‘Zoom in’ to Vs. 7 – 10 – “So the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua… when all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.”
Sadly, following Joshua’s death & the generation after him, “a generation arose that did not know the Lord.”
Seek to BE REAL (humble & vulnerable) in sharing your story of your faith in Jesus with someone of a younger generation than you (child, grandchild, friend). Listen with care to their story; seek to share God’s story with them.
Pray for Sarasota Baptist Church to ‘grow younger’ by welcoming families with children and students. Pray that we will practice the NT pattern of ‘Real people being real.’
