The Strategy
Sarasota Baptist Church exists to glorify God by sharing the Gospel with unbelievers, serving the hurting, equipping believers practically in God’s Word, and exalting Jesus Christ in worship while encouraging people to live in an atmosphere of love & grace.
The Church
We believe the church is a local body of believers on mission to enlarge God's kingdom. The local church is autonomous, free of any external authority or control.
Ordinances
We believe baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinance of the church.
Our Guiding Principles
ENGAGING PEOPLE WITH THE GOSPEL
Matthew 28:18-20 (NASB)
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirt, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
PRAYING WITH POWER
John 16:24 (NASB)
24 Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.
GROWING TOGETHER IN SMALL GROUPS
2 Timothy 2:2 (NASB)
2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
MOBILIZING PEOPLE TO SERVE
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NASB)
11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ
EXPANDING MINISTRY INFLUENCE
Act 2:8; 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 (NASB)
8 And how is it that we each hear them in our own language to which we were born?
19 For though I am free from all people, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may gain more. 20 To the Jews, I became as a Jew, so that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, I became as one under the Law, though not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law, 21 to those who are without the Law, I became as one without the Law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might gain whose who are without the Law. 22 To the weak I because weak, that I might gain the weak; I have become all things to all people, so that I may by all means save someone
WORSHIPPING AUTHENTICALLY
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NASB)
24 …and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
RELATING TO PEOPLE WITH LOVE AND GRACE
Ephesians 4:32 (NASB)
32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
