Let’s celebrate any ‘strongholds’ which have been ‘pulled down’ in our lives from yesterday’s worship. Let’s read & reflect on Joshua, chapter 7. This is a challenging chapter; seek to understand what’s occurring and allow your heart to experience godly sorrow over sin and defeat.
Until chapter 7, Joshua and the Israelites had only experienced ‘success’ over their enemies. Why did they experience defeat at ‘Ai’? ‘Zero in’ on Verses 10 – 12.
What insights can you gain from this account about ‘hidden sin?’ (Sin is serious. Hidden sin cannot be hidden from God. Sin’s payment has consequences.)
QUIETLY SIT IN THE LORD’S PRESENCE confessing any and every sin. Pray – ‘Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me.’ Claim the promise – “the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin… If you confess your sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins...” (1 John 1: 7,9).
