Let’s read and reflect on Jonah chapter 1 today. Try reading this chapter in a different translation. What is the cost of disobedience? Circle the word ‘down’ each time it is mentioned in the text.
ZOOM IN to Vs. 1 – 2. Jonah was SENT by God to Nineveh (populated by Assyrians, a people who had no access to the message of salvation). What was Jonah’s response to God’s clear calling?
Currently there are 12,112 people groups in the world (8 billion people). 7,248 of these groups are unreached (4.8 billion) and 3,148 unengaged, unreached people groups (288 million).
Unreached = less than 2 percent are evangelical Christians.
Unengaged = people where there is no Christian witness or churches.
Imagine living in a city like Sarasota with no witness of Jesus. What might you be feeling, thinking or experiencing without the love of Jesus?
How does God SEND us today? Pause and ask – “Lord, how do you send Your servants today?” Write down impressions and a prayer of your willingness to be SENT by Him as a witness of His Son.
