Christmas Devotional Day 1 - November 25

For the next 32 days, Let’s use our imaginations to interview various people we will meet in the Bible and ask  them, “WHAT DOES CHRISTMAS MEAN TO YOU?” These 32 days of devotionals correlates with the sermon series which is designed to lead our hearts to reflect on the special significance of Christmas through the simple, yet startling truth of John chapter 3, verse 16. Through prayerful reflections of the impact of Jesus’ coming into the world, may the Spirit lead our hearts to the special wonder of Christmas & empower our conversations to ask of others - ‘What does Christmas mean to you?’ & lead us to freely share the love of Jesus (John 3: 16) in caring conversations – ‘That’s what Christmas means to me!’
Let’s begin our investigative journey by asking an elderly couple, Zachariah & Elizabeth, this question – “What does Christmas mean to you?” Prayerfully read with imagination the Gospel of Luke chapter 1, verses 1 – 25.

Imagine how this couple would answer this question. Put yourself in the text & prayerfully reflect a why Christmas (the Messiah coming to earth) has special meaning through their perspective.

Pause and reflect on – What does Christmas mean to you? ZOOM INTO Verse 25 and lead your heart respond to the Lord’s favor by joining Elizabeth in her prayer –
"The Lord has done this for me. He has looked with favor in these days to take away my disgrace among the people.” (Luke 1:25)

Prayerfully look for an opportunity to ask someone in your daily traffic patterns – “What does Christmas mean to you?” Listen. Care for their response. Then wait for the person to ask – “So what does Christmas mean to you?” This gives you an opportunity to Share ‘a reason for the hope that is in you.’ (1 Peter 3: 15)
