Let’s read with imagination the Gospel of Luke chapter 2, verses 1 -20.
ZOOM INTO Verse 7 - As we reflect on the marvelous mystery the virgin birth of Jesus, Imagine asking Joseph in that moment, “What does Christmas so mean you?” What do you think he might say? Maybe he would be in awe and testify, “God does miracles in unexpected ways.”
Let’s imagine even further the shepherds, interrupted from sleep by angelic activity - How might they respond to the ‘key question?’
Maybe they would say, “God sees us! God knows us! and God cares for us!” (The shepherds were ignored and treated by invisible to most in their day.)
Pause & Reflect: Do you ever feel insignificant, forgotten, or unimportant? Christmas means that the Lord visits the lowly with the riches of His grace. This means You are seen, known, and cared for by the One who matters the most.
Express to the Lord what Christmas means to you through the perspective of the shepherds.
“Lord, Christmas means to me _____________________________________. Prompt me to ask the key question. Carefully listen to a friend’s response and share your hope, for I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Let’s PRAY – for the CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL which begins at 7 p.m. Ask the Lord to encourage the neighbors we have invited to attend. It’s going to be a great evening for celebrating God’s love!
