Parenting IRL Devo Day 8 - January 10

Let’s read Proverbs chapter 8 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.

Let’s focus on Verses 34 – 35: “Anyone who listens to me is happy, watching at my doors every day, waiting by the posts of my doorway. For the One who finds Me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord.” Re-read this text as your Father in heaven speaks this to your heart. A key to becoming a flourishing disciple of Jesus is developing a teachable spirit.

Are you teachable? Who is your mentor in faith, relationships, wellness, finances and vocation? Pray: “Abba Father, may I become teachable. Open my eyes to spiritually growing disciples who can invest in me; may I become a mentor to others, for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Parenting IRL challenge: A good leader is a good follower. Leadership begins at the feet of Jesus. Pursue spiritual mentors in your life who can impart wisdom to you as a parent and disciple-maker.
