Let’s read Proverbs chapter 9 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
Let’s focus on Verses 9 – 10 – “Instruct the wise, and he will be wiser still; teach the righteous, and he will learn more. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
Practicing the presence of the Lord is what it means to ‘fear the Lord.’ Learn to practice His presence by daily meditating and committing to memory God’s Word; by opening your heart to Him in prayer; and by becoming teachable.
