Let’s read Proverbs chapter 10 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
Let’s focus on Verse 12b – “Love covers all offenses.” Could your relationships benefit from forgiveness and love? We all could benefit. Learn to give first a love that forgives the offenses and hurtful words of ones in your daily traffic pattern.
You may ask, “How many times shall I forgive the offense of others?” Up to 7 times? Hear Jesus say, “Up to seventy times seven!” Reflect on how the Lord has freely forgiven you of all your sins. Give Him thanks!
Now open your hands as a sign of an open heart. Give the offenses of others to God; freely forgive as Christ has forgiven you.
Parenting IRL challenge: Allow your children witness a confession and forgiveness in your relationships. Use inevitable conflict and an act of forgiveness as ‘teachable moments’ to impart your faith to your children.
