Parenting IRL Devo Day 17 - January 19

Let’s read Proverbs chapter 17 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.

Let’s focus on V.22 – “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” How are your emotions? Invite the Holy Spirit to fill your heart and home with His joy and peace; to increase laughter and enjoyment in your home. If you are feeling stressed, consider taking a sabbath rest of 24 hours allowing the Lord to restore to you the joy of His salvation.

Parenting IRL challenge: To increase the emotional well-being of your children increase ‘the fruit of the Spirit’ in your heart. Pray – “Spirit of God, fill me Your fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and self-control – for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
