Let’s open our Bibles & hearts to reflect on Mark’s Gospel 11, verses 1 thru 11. This text will be the focus of this week’s sermon. From today’s reading, What’s one thing God is saying to you?
A bit of background: Jesus, in the morning, travels from Lazarus' house in Bethany to Bethphage, which is a Sabbath day's journey (1,000 yards) away from Jerusalem. He then mounts a colt for his triumphal entry into the city. The gathering crowd, as he travels, begins to praise him and God (Mark 11:9 - 10). They also place their clothes and cut palm tree branches on the road in front of him.
How would the disciples know which colt to choose on which Jesus would enter Jerusalem?
A Spirit-empowered disciple of Jesus listens to and hears God for wisdom and discernment. Jesus, who gave clear directions to His disciples in choosing the donkey, is the same Jesus who gives clear directions to you today as one He loves.– see Hebrews 13: 8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
Pause to pray concerning areas in your life you desire God’s wisdom and discernment. Listen to Jesus and respond to His leading.
