Let’s continue our walk with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK by reading and reflect on Mark’s Gospel, chapter 12 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak. What is one thing God is saying to you as you reflect on this chapter?
A bit of background - In the morning, at Jerusalem's temple, the chief priests, scribes, and elders, for the final time, confront and challenge Jesus' authority. The confrontation lasts from morning to late afternoon.
Let’s zoom into Vs. 29–31 -In the mist of the debate about His authority, Jesus give THE GREAT COMMANDMENT. Jesus answered, “The most important is Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.,, 31 The second is, Love your neighbor as yourself., There is no other command greater than these.”
Notice the Great Commandment focuses on LOVE toward the Lord and your near ones.
Pray for the Lord to deepen your LOVE – “Heavenly Father, I pray for my love to deepen for You and for my near ones. May my living for you be empowered by my love for you, for I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!”
