Final Week Devo Day 15 - February 19

Let’s continue our walk with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK as He goes willingly to the cross. Let’s reflect on Mark’s Gospel, chapter 14, verses 1 – 11 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

A bit of background: Near evening, the disciples are told that the Passover is after two days. The chief priests, scribes, & elders of the Great Sanhedrin, who hate him, meet at the palace of Caiaphas the high priest. They meet to discuss how to have him killed "by trickery.” Jesus travels to Bethany and stays at Simon the Leper's house. As Jesus is eating a woman comes in and anoints his head with very expensive ointment.

Questions to ponder:
  • Why do you think Jesus went to eat at “the house of Simon the leper?”
  • This was a meal of celebration for Simon; he once was diseased and separated from family , and now he is now cleansed and close with his family. Jesus is the center of the celebration.
  • Can you identify with Simon?
  • Why did this woman anoint Jesus with costly perfume?

Write a prayer in your journal to celebrate Jesus cleansing and restoring you.

Pray for an opportunity to share your story of how Jesus changed you with someone in your traffic pattern.
