Let’s prayerfully reflect on Luke’s Gospel chapter 22. What stands out to you in today’s reading? Highlight a text; Express your heart to God.
A bit of background: At sunset, at the start of Nisan 14, they observe the last Passover of which Jesus will partake.
Let’s zoom into Vs. 24 – 30 – this scene of ‘disputing disciples.’ These two terms ‘disputing’ and ‘disciples’ should not go together; but sadly, here they do. Jesus was just speaking tenderly to His disciples about His death, and now they are fighting over who will be the greatest in the future kingdom. How sad!
Do you find yourself at times ‘disputing’ with others? How are we to resolve conflict in a way pleasing to Jesus?
Notice his words – vs. 25 – 27. Jesus calls us to serve into conflict with love. When the discussion becomes heated, bow with a heart of humility to meet relational needs (of respect, security, comfort, support etc.) Pick up a towel and wash your near ones’ ‘feet’ by words of care for the frustration he/she is experiencing.
Remember – In every conflict, someone must be like Jesus and die to oneself.
