Final Week Devo Day 21 - February 25

Let’s prayerfully read Mark chapter 14, verse 22 – 26 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

A bit of background - Jesus institutes the taking of a small piece of unleavened bread during the Christian Passover which represents his body offered on the cross. Then He shares a small amount of wine which represents his blood freely shed to make the New Covenant possible.

Jesus gave to His church the ordinance of ‘the Lord’s supper’ often referred to as communion and then later he gave the ordinance of baptism (Matthew 28: 18 – 20).

Today we will partake of the Lord’s supper as a church family. So prepare your heart by 1st remembering what Jesus did for you; he willingly laid down His life for you… taking the punishment your sin deserved by dying as a substitute in your place. What does that do to your heart?

Also, examine your heart. Is there anything between you and Jesus… any unconfessed sin, unrepented habit, unresolved conflict with another? If so, confess this as sin and experience a fresh start by the power of Jesus’ blood.

Prepare yourself also for the proclamation of the Gospel. “As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.” By our participation in worship and partaking of the Lord’s supper, we are living the Gospel that we so desire to reach our neighborhoods in Sarasota “as the waters cover the sea.”
