Let’s read and reflect on John’s Gospel chapter 18, verses 1 - 14. What stands out to you from this reading? What is God saying to you?
A bit of background - After midnight, when (according to the Roman calendar we use today) it becomes Wednesday, Judas arrives in the Garden of Gethsemane accompanied by armed officers and other men provided by the religious leaders. Judas, as a signal of which person to arrest, gives Jesus a kiss.
Let’s zoom into V. 6 – “When Jesus told them, ‘I am he,’ they stepped back and fell to the ground.” What do you imagine cause these armed soldiers to fall to the ground?
Pause and meditate on the majesty and power of Jesus. As you consider His claim to be the great I AM, this brings reflections of how the Lord revealed Himself to Moses in the burning bush (Exodus 3). Express your heart of worship to Jesus by singing or listening to a worship song to express your adoration to Him.
