Final Week Devo Day 27 - March 2

Let’s walk with Jesus slowly in His FINAL WEEK by reading and reflecting on Matthew 26: 40 -45.

Zoom into His question - “Could you not stay awake with Me one hour?” Imagine Jesus asking you this question. Let’s challenge ourselves to extend to longer seaons of prayer that you ordinarily do. Set aside one hour to be with Jesus. Find a place without distractions, electronic devises… maybe outside. Place reflective background music (I suggest William Augusto) to place your mind into a prayer mode.

A suggested 1-hour prayer outline:
  • 15 Minutes of Worship – Recall the names and characteristics of the Lord you adore and admire. Don’t try to fill your time with talking; spend time listening to the Lord as He reminds you who He is. Write reflections in a journal.
  • 15 minutes of Confession & introspection – Ask the Lord to search your heart & know you. Ask Him to reveal areas in your life that you have neglected and sinned against Him. Ask Him to cleanse your heart and renew a right spirit within you. Celebrate the promise of 1 John 1: 9.
  • 15 minutes of Thanksgiving – enter into the mindset of Psalm 103 of remembering all the ways the Lord has blessed you. As you think of these blessings, lead your heart and mouth to express gratitude to the Lord. This may take longer than 15 minutes, but just get started.
  • 15 minutes of Petitioning prayer – Imagine the Lord sitting next to you and asks you, ‘What’s troubling you?’ Begin to tell Him and give your concerns to Him.

Wow! One hour with Jesus goes by fast, does it not? You have spent time in the presence of the Eternal God, and it seems that time does not matter. You have brought joy to Jesus’ heart for you have moved from ordinary prayer to extraordinary prayer. You have prayed longer than usual.
