Wow! What an incredible day of worship & fellowship together yesterday as a church family! Let’s keep walking with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK as He walks alone without His disciples in the trails before religious and government authorities. Let’s prayerfully Read Mark chapter 14, verses 55 – 65. Using the H.E.A.R. method of reflecting on this text… highlighting, explaining, applying and responding with your heart.
A bit of background - Jesus endured 6 trails: 3 religious & 3 governmental. (The movie, the Passion of the Christ, depicts this vividly.)
Today we read of Jesus being arrested and taken to the court of Annas, a former High Priest and father-in-law of the current High Priest Caiaphas. After some questioning, He is sent to the High Priest's palace. Gathered at the palace are those chief priests, elders, scribes, and other religious leaders who desired to see Jesus dead.
The High Priest, around 2 a.m., questions Jesus about His disciples and teachings but does not receive an answer. Frustrated, he adjures him by the living God to state whether He is the true Son of God. The answer He receives so angers him that he tears his clothes and cries out that Christ has committed blasphemy & issues the death penalty.
PAUSE TO ENTER JESUS’ SUFFERINGS – “He was in the world, and the world was created through him, and yet the world did not recognize him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.” (John 1:10–11)
What does it do to your heart to know Jesus was ignored and rejected by the very nation of Israel He came to save? Express your heart to Him.
Pray in response – “Jesus, my heart aches to know you are ignored and rejected by the very people You can to save. Lord, I give You my attention; I do not want to ignore You, Amen.”
