Oh, our walk with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK becomes increasingly filled with grief and sadness as we behold the suffering of the Son of man. Let’s read Mark’s Gospel chapter 15 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
A bit of background - Around 7 a.m. the Jewish leaders bring Jesus to Pontius Pilate under the charge of treason against Rome. They do this to improve their chances of the Romans putting him to death.
Zero in on Vs. 2 – 5 – When Pilate questions Jesus, he discovers He is from Galilee and sends him to Herod Antipas (Tetrarch of Galilee and son of Herod the Great) for judgment.
Notice: Jesus is from Galilee, the area surrounding the Sea of Galilee – where He spoke the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) & where 2/3 of the Gospel accounts take place. Jesus’ mission was to illuminate ones living in darkness with the light of God’s revelation to save.
Pause and consider – Where is the ‘Galilee’ where Jesus is sending you to be an everyday missionary? Is it your neighborhood or school or place of business or café or gym? Write down the names of ones you relate to each week and begin to pray for the light of Jesus to be revealed to them. Ask the Lord to involve you in this process of sharing His hope.
