Let’s continue walking with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK by reading prayerfully Luke chapter 23, verses 5 – 12 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
Imagine Jesus standing before Herod as depicted in the movie, “The Passion of the Christ.” What do you notice about Jesus’ response to Herod? What insight does Jesus’ behavior give when you are belittled & disrespected by others?
Pause and Consider – Jesus’ example in suffering is one for us to follow as His disciples. Simon Peter with this scene of Jesus on trail writes – “For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. 22 He did not commit sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth;, 23 when he was insulted, he did not insult in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten but entrusted himself to the one who judges justly.” (1 Peter 2:21–23)
Prayerfully consider the steps of Jesus the Spirit maybe calling you to follow with ones who cause hurt to you. Write a prayer of yielding your heart to the Lord.
