In our journey with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK leading to His death, we are considering how Simon Peter denied his Lord 3 x’s. To gain insight, let’s read and reflect on the book of Psalms chapter 1. Is there one verse or thought that stands out to you today? Use the H.E.A.R. method and write in your Bible or journal. Talk to God about it.
Zoom into V.1 – notice the ‘slippery slope of compromise.’ Underline or notice the words “walk” “stand” and “sit.” If we “walk in the advice of the ungodly”…. This leads to “standing in the way of ones who rebel” … leading downward to “sitting in the seat of ones who scoff at God.” This is what occurred to Simon Peter when he denied Jesus; he slid down the ‘slippery slope of compromise’ which began with a neglect of prayer.
Write out a prayer based on Psalm chapter 1. – “Abba Father, I do not want to slide down a slippery slope of compromise, but I desire to be one who is _________________________________, Amen!
