Final Week Devo Day 38 - March 13

Let’s continue walk with Jesus & learn why Simon Peter denied Jesus 3x’s ( and to gain insight into how this happens to us.) In the last few days, we discovered that prayerlessness and compromise lead him to these sad denials. Today let’s reflect on John chapter 12, verses 20 – 36. Jesus spoke these words to Simon Peter and the disciples in anticipation of His arrest, trails, and death.

Zoom into V. 35 to Jesus’ imperative to His disciples (and Peter) to overcome darkness - “The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn’t overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.”

What’s the key to not allowing the darkness to overtake you? “Walk in the light” How are you doing with this imperative?

Are you walking in the Light of Jesus? Do you often have fresh encounters with Jesus as you see Him with open arms welcoming you… or tears in His eyes as He weeps for you… or praying for you?

Are you walking in the Light of His Word? Do you frequently have experiences of ‘doing the book?’ What Bible verse have you done recently? (Matthew 10: 8; Eph. 4: 29; Prov. 15: 1).

Are you walking in the Light of His people? Are you faithfully engaging with a group of people who love and follow Jesus? Join a Bible study or prayer meeting where you are known, being known & caringly involved with fellow believers.

Why? Because like Peter, failure to walk in the light will result in being overcome by the darkness. The reality is the darkness is always chasing after us, so walk in the light!
