Final Week Devo Day 39 - March 14

Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on Jesus’ FINAL WEEK. We are learning what led to Simon Peter denying the Lord 3 x’s. Let’s read Jesus’ words to Peter in Luke’s Gospel chapter 22, verses 31 – 34 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.

Notice Peter’s determination: “Lord, I’m ready to go with you both to prison and to death.” Do you sense a hint of haughtiness or pride in Peter’s words? Maybe he was being ‘overcome by overconfidence?’ 1 Corinthians 10:12 speaks to becoming overconfident – “So, whoever thinks he stands must be careful not to fall.”

Let’s zoom into Vs. 31, 32 - “Simon, Simon, look out. Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.  But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And you, when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
How do you think Simon was feeling knowing ‘Satan would sift him like wheat?’
What did it do to Simon’s heart to know Jesus would be praying for him?

Pause and reflect – What does it do to your heart to know that Jesus is praying for you? Hebrews 7: 25 states Jesus is right now making intercession for you; He is praying your ‘prayer list’ and concerns. Express your heart to Jesus.
