Final Week Devo Day 40 - March 15

In our walk with Jesus in His FINAL WEEK to the cross, let’s read and reflect once again on John’s Gospel chapter 18 – giving special attention to Peter’s denials of Jesus. Use the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Let’s zoom into V.18 – “Now the servants and the officials had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold. They were standing there warming themselves, and Peter was standing with them, warming himself.” Picture this scene; it was a cold outside in temperature; the servants, officials, and Peter warming by the ‘enemy’s fire.’ Consider the term ‘cold’ was descriptive (by the Gospel writer John) not just of the outward temperature but the inward temperature of Peter’s heart relationship with Jesus.

Pause & reflect – What is your heart-temperature in relationship with Jesus? Are you cold by not walking as closely with Him as you ought? Or are you hot by walking in deepening devotion to Him?

Pray for the temperature of your heart’s devotion to increase toward Jesus.
