Final Week Devo Day 42 - March 17

Today is the Lord’s Day when we gather to worship and glorify the name of Jesus! What a joy to wake up in beautiful Sarasota and gather with our church family at SBC. Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on John’s Gospel chapter 21 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.

This week we have reflecing on Simon Peter’s 3 denials of Jesus. Today we reflect on what happened following the denials, Jesus’ death, and now His resurrection.

In this chapter, Peter and the disciples have gone back to fishing when Jesus appears to them on the shores of the sea of Galilee. Let’s zoom into Vs. 15 – 19. How many times did Jesus ask Peter if he loved Him? How many times did Peter deny knowing Jesus? Jesus is pursuing Peter with restoring love.

Pause and Reflect – Failure is not final in the eyes of Jesus. Simon Peter repented of his failures and the Lord Jesus restored Him. Have experienced the restoring love of Jesus from a failure in your life? Share your story with a friend or family member. Celebrate how Jesus forgives and restores. He is the same “yesterday, today and forever.”
