Final Week Devo Day 45 - March 20

Let’s read John’s Gospel chapter 19, verses 16 – 24 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
.
What would it have been like to be at the cross when Jesus was crucified? Place yourself in the text.

Zoom into V. 19 – “Pilate also had a sign made and put on the cross. It said: “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” Signs were placed on crosses to communicate with the public the crimes for which a criminal was being sentenced to die.

For what charges did Jesus die? Let’s meditate on Colossians 2:14 – “God erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross.” Jesus died to pay for the debt of our sin!

Pause and celebrate Jesus’ love for you, nailing your sins to His cross.
