Let’s continue walking with Jesus in his final hours of His FINAL WEEK by reflecting on Luke’s Gospel chapter 23, verses 39 – 43 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.
Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.
Let’s focus on V. 43 – Jesus’ startling words to the repentant thief – “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” What do you think Jesus’ words did to this man’s heart?
Picture Jesus speaking these words of promise and eternal life to you. Meditate on the reality - 2 Corinthians 5:8 “In fact, we are confident, to be away from the body is to be at home with the Lord.”
Express your heart to the Lord in prayer of thanksgiving and worship for being your Savior and Lord.
