Final Week Devo Day 50 - March 25

This is the FINAL WEEK …. As we anticipate the celebration of Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Pray for individuals you can invite to sit with you in worship this weekend. Let’s read John chapter 19, verses 38 – 42 using the H.E.A.R. method. As you read the passage, do the following:
H- highlight the verses that stand out to you.
E – explain the verse(s) in your own words of what God is saying to you.
A – apply the verse to your life. (What would it look like to live this truth in your
life?)
R – respond in prayer by writing your heart to God.

Each of these four steps cultivates a heart-attitude to hear God speak.

A bit of background: Pilate, just before sunset, allows Joseph of Arimathea, a rich member of the Sanhedrin, to take the body of Jesus. Joseph and Nicodemus wrap his body in fine linen with a mixture of myrrh and aloes and bury him in the brand-new tomb Joseph had made for himself. At sunset the First Day of Unleavened Bread, a high Holy Day where no work is allowed, begins.

Zoom into V. 38 – Why do you think ‘Joseph of Arimathea’ once a secret disciple of Jesus became bold in asking Pilate for the body of Jesus? What made the difference?

Reflect on how Jesus’ death has made you bold and compelling in your witness for Jesus. Have you boldly followed Jesus in baptism since you have believed? If not, schedule your baptism by signing up here - https://sarasotabaptist.com/baptism .
Pray for ‘holy boldness’ to invite a neighbor to sit with you for the weekend services.
