Wow! What an amazing celebration of the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ this weekend at SBC! What do the events of Easter mean to you?
Let’s read with careful thought for the answer in Romans chapter 6, verses 1 - 14. (This will the key chapter for our new sermon series RAISED TO WALK for this month.) As you read, circle the words “baptized” or “baptism.”
What does it mean to be ‘baptized’ into Christ? The word means ‘to immerse.’ Baptism is the act when you are lowered under the water and raised out of the water to celebrate one’s new identity as a follower of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s reflect on baptism personally :
Challenge – Write down Verse 4 and commit to memory this week. Allow this verse to change the way you view each day as a follower of Jesus.
Pray – “Abba Father, the greatest act of love is when You delivered up Your Son as a sacrifice for my sins and raised Him from the dead three days later. Empower me by Your Spirit to live out my baptismal identity every day. May I walk free from my past to the newness of life, for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Let’s reflect on baptism personally :
- Have you been baptized since you turned from your sin and placed your faith in Jesus as your Savior and Lord? (If not, click here to schedule your baptism; Sunday, April 14th is our Baptismal celebration at Siesta Key beach - https://sarasotabaptist.churchcenter.com/people/forms/248616)
- If you have identified with Jesus by baptism since you believed, what does this act of obedience mean to you now? – reflect on Vs. 3, 4
- As you awake each new day, look in the mirror and celebrate your identity as one who is ‘buried with Christ in baptism and RAISED TO WALK in the newness of life.’
