Raised to Walk Devo Day 6 - April 6

Let’s continue in our discovery of our RAISED TO WALK: BAPTISM by reading Chapter 2 of the letter to the Colossians.

Zero into V. 12 – “Having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.”

What does this verse mean to you?

Before you put your faith in Jesus Christ, you were dead. Yes, you had breath in your lungs, but spiritually, you were dead. A dead thing cannot bring itself back to life. Only a miracle can bring a dead thing back to life!

Your baptism is a symbol (new identity) of that miracle taking place in you. You were dead. Now you are alive! You have been brought to new life because of what Jesus did for you. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, you have been given new life in him! Your baptism becomes a marker of the change that has taken place in you. It is a reminder of your new identity of new life with Christ.

Say aloud : “I am a child of God! I am a new creation! I  have been given a new life! Jesus is the Lord of my life, and I  will begin to live like him.” (repeat these words and live out your new identity of new life, baptism).

As you read from Colossians chapter 2  today, reflect on things you want to leave behind from your old life. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the power to walk into new life in those areas.

As you prepare for the beach baptism celebration (April 14th), Keep these prayers on your mind as you reflect on going into the waters of baptism. Allow the Holy Spirit to wash over you, cleanse your heart and mind, and raise you to new life!
