Let’s prayerfully reflect on Genesis chapter 21, verses 1 – 7. God makes a
promise to Sarah at 90 years of age that she will conceive and bear a child with her
husband who is 100 years of age. Does this make you laugh?
Let’s zero in on Hebrews 11:11 which is a good explanation of our reading – “By
faith even Sarah herself, when she was unable to have children, received the power to
conceive offspring, even though she was past the age since she considered that
the one who had promised was faithful.”
A 90-year-old lady having a baby is ‘beyond possible;’ Does this make you laugh?
If so, this is what Sarah was hoping to occur – “may everyone who hears laugh
with me.”
A song chorus that I learned in Bible college gives insight into our journey –
“Faith, mighty faith, see the promises…
And looks to God alone;
Laughs at impossibilities and cries it shall be done!”
Pause and Consider – At what impossibilities is the Spirit prompting you to
practice faith in God and laugh at impossibilities?
“Lord, there is before me an impossible mountain of
________________________. I want to look to Your Majestic power above this
mountain and lead my heart to put my faith in You alone. I trust in you, Jesus!
Amen!”
