Don’t forget that tomorrow is Mother’s Day! Take a moment to make a call, plan a visit, or express your care and thoughtfulness to the special women who have enriched your life. Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on the book of Ruth chapters 1 – 2. Jot down several thoughts you observe about Ruth. What was her background and culture? Who was her mother-in-law? What difficulties did she experience?
What makes Ruth’s story so special? Highlight verses which show Ruth demonstrating faith in God. (See 1: 16,17; 2:10 – 12, 23)
Let’s zero into 2:12 – Boaz said of Ruth’s faith –“May the Lord reward you for what you have done, and may you receive a full reward from the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Ruth was a Gentile from Moab, yet she placed her faith in the God of Israel. This was a major conversion.
Pause and imagine Jesus praying over you – “Abba Father, I pray that you would reward the faith of my friend. I ask you to give a full reward according to faith expressed in Me. May you give a refuge and rest as this one has placed faith in You, Amen”
Express your heart to Jesus for His prayer on your behalf.
