Let’s continue on our voyage of faith with Captain Noah and his family by
prayerfully reading Genesis chapter 8, verses 15 – 22. Highlight words or phrases
that stand out to you. Write out an explanation in your own words of your highlight.
How might this apply to your life? Write a prayer in your journal responding to
what God is speaking to you.
Zero into Vs.20 – 22 – “Then Noah built an altar to the Lord…. When the Lord
smelled the pleasing aroma, … “ Imagine Noah coming out of the ark with his
family and all the animals (estimated around 7,000). How do you think he felt?
How did he express his heart to God?
Reflect on the delivery from judgement God gave to you through the work of
His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. By Jesus’ suffering for our sins on the cross, His
burial, and resurrection three days later, you are forgiven of all your sins and
declared righteous forever in His sight. How do you feel? How can you express
your heart of gratitude to God?
Imagine building an altar and climbing up on it; presenting yourself as a sacrifice.
This is the image that his used in Romans 12: 1 – “Therefore, brothers and sisters,
in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living
sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.”
Respond with your heart in prayer – “Abba Father, you have saved me from so
great a death and just punishment for my sins by the sacrifice of Your Son. May
the place where I am kneeling be an altar and may my body be the sacrifice;
consume me with the fire of Your Spirit. I give myself wholly to You as a living
sacrifice, for I am filled with gratitude, in Jesus’ name I humbly pray, Amen.”
