Wow! What an incredible journey we are experiencing as we study the lives of faith
found in Hebrews chapter 11. This week we will focus on the judges, Gideon &
Samson.
Let’s prayerfully read Hebrews 11:32–40; circle the names Gideon & Samson in
the text.
What do you know about the judges (ones who delivered God’s people from evil
oppression) of the Old Testament? Let’s read Judges chapter 2 to gain the
background for Samson’s life of faith. What highlights stand out to you in your
reading? What applications can be made to your life today?
Let’s focus on Vs. 10–11 – “That whole generation was also gathered to their
ancestors. After them, another generation rose up who did not know the Lord or the
works he had done for Israel. The Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight.
They worshiped the Baals.”
The time of the ‘judges’ in which Gideon & Samson lived was a season of spiritual
confusion for God’s people. It was a continual cycle of SIN (God’s people sinning),
SUFFERING (under oppressive armies), SUPPLICATION(praying to God) , &
SALVATION (by God sending of a judge).
Pause and pray for the next generation to know the Lord.
“Abba Father, I pray our “descendants will serve You; the next generation will be
told about the Lord. They will come and declare his righteousness; to a people yet
to be born they will declare what he has done.” (Ps.22:30,31) May the younger
generation of children, teens, and young adults know your goodness and love
found in Your Beloved Son, Amen!
