Let’s continue reading the life of Gideon from Judges chapter 7 in the Old
Testament. What are some highlights from today’s reading? What application can
you make to your life?
Let’s focus on Judges 7:2 - The Lord said to Gideon, “You have too many troops
for me to hand the Midianites over to them, or else Israel might elevate themselves
over me and say, ‘I saved myself.’”
This is an insightful story of how God desires our unwavering trust in Him alone.
Gideon began with 32,000 men to fight the Midianites, and the Lord reduced them
to 300 men. Why?
Pause and consider how the Lord may be wanting to reduce your dependence on
other things and people to increase your trust in him.
Prayer prompt: “Heavenly Father, I confess my heart and flesh fail, but You are the
strength of my heart and my portion forever! May my dependence on other people
and things lessen, so my trust is in You alone. You promised that ones who trust in
You will be like Mount Zion and will not be shaken. I trust alone in You, for I humbly
pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!”
