For day 12 of our 31 Days of prayer for our nation, let’s prayerfully read the letter of
Colossians chapter 1. What are some highlights from your reading? Write down an
application to your reading.
Let’s zero into Vs. 9 – 12; today’s focus of prayer is for our spiritual leaders. Let’s pray
this text for our pastors and their families: “For this reason also, since the day we heard
this, we haven’t stopped praying for you. We are asking that you may be filled with the
knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you may walk
worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work and growing in
the knowledge of
God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, so that you
may have endurance and patience, with joy giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled
you to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.”
Let’s pray this prayer specifically for our pastors (Pastor Rowden, Price, Lundy, Moore,
McLaughlin, Lewis). We, as Pastors may appear as though we are so strong that we do
not need prayer, but be assured, any pastor genuinely called to the ministry knows he
needs prayer—earnest, passionate, and effective prayer. “Pray for me” is the number-one
personal request from the pastors of the church we serve.
Here are five specific ways to pray for our pastors & families:
• THANKS: Father, thank you that you will always give our pastors the full
knowledge of your will in all things, personally and for our church.
Holy Spirit, fill our pastors with your wisdom and perspective about all things in his
life, in our church, and in this world.
• PETITION: Lord Jesus, fill our pastors with spiritual understanding that will help
him put facts and information together biblically, spiritually, and practically.
• WORD: Oh Lord, empower our pastors to walk in a way that would exemplify you
to all persons, pleasing you in all ways, and bearing fruit in every way before
others.
• ENGAGE Oh God, enlist some of your saints to help strengthen each of our
pastors & families with your power that fills him with spiritual life daily, including the
difficult days of life and ministry, and lead him to persevere with joy and
thanksgiving.
