Let’s keep moving our hearts in prayer for our nation, as we focus our prayer today on our
nation’s military. Let’s prayerfully read and reflect on the book of 2 Samuel 23. Circle the
names of David’s mighty men. How many are listed? What are some remarkable acts they
did in service to David?
David’s mighty men remind us of the brave men and women who make up our nation’s
military. Jesus said in John 15: 13 - “No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life
for his friends.”
Courage, sacrifice, and service would be among the numerous affirmations we could bestow
on our military men and women and their families. Do you know someone who is serving
in our nation’s military? It seems only appropriate that we should serve those who have
served us through prayer- whether they are in active duty or veterans. We are privileged
to approach the throne of grace on behalf of these servants.
Pause & Text – someone serving in active duty or a veteran of how you may support them
in prayer.
PETITION; We ask you, Father, to continue raising up these men and women as leaders
who serve the people with justice under the fear of the Lord (see 2 Samuel 23:3). We also
ask, Lord, that you would protect the spouses and children of those who serve us
courageously. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
WORD “But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one” (2
Thessalonians 3:3). Lord, we claim your protection over these, for you are the Faithful
One with whom nothing is impossible. Amen!
