On this 24th day of 31 days of prayer for spiritual AWAKENING for our nation, let’s
prayerfully read Matthew chapter 18. Today’s focus will be on forgiveness. Are there any
verses you can highlight on forgiveness? What applications can you make?
Let’s zoom in to Vs. 21–22 - Then Peter approached Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many
times must I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? As many as seven times?”
“I tell you, not as many as seven,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven.”
May the ministry of forgiveness continually be part of our lives as we step into each day’s journey so that God will be honored and glorified among His people.
• THANKS I Give thanks to the Father: I bless and praise you, holy Father, that
while I was yet a sinner, you allowed your Son to die in my place that I might
receive the miracle of forgiveness and eternal life; may I never get over the wonder
of this love.
• CONFESSION I Listen for the Holy Spirit’s prompting for confession: Speak,
Lord, as I listen quietly for those individuals or groups of people I choose now to
forgive; convict me with a sorrow that produces change in me and freedom for
those I have harbored resentment against.
• PETITION I Join Jesus in prayers of petition: Even, Lord Jesus, as you have
declared “Father, forgive them,” I join you in declaring the same. By the power of
your Spirit, I choose to live life, forgiving others as I have been forgiven.
• WORD I Proclaim promises from His Word: Holy Spirit, empower my life with
kindness, tenderheartedness, and compassion toward all as a sign of forgiveness,
giving witness to the power of the gospel. (Ephesians 4:31–32)
