Awaken Devo Day 26 - July 26

As we pray for spiritual AWAKENING for our nation, we are discovering that awakening must first begin in us as disciples of Jesus. Let’s read the Gospel of John chapter 4 of Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well. What are some highlights of spiritual awakening in this chapter? What applications does this have for us today?

Let’s zero into V.35 - “Don’t you say, ‘There are still four more months, and then comes
the harvest’? Listen to what I’m telling you: Open your eyes and look at the fields
because they are ready for harvest.”

Jesus calls us, as his disciples, to look and see the potential of lost people being gathered
into His kingdom as a harvest. Lost people do sinful things because they are lost. Let’s
pray our eyes will be opened to what Jesus’ transforming power will do in Sarasota!

• THANKS: I offer blessings and praise to you, Father God, for entrusting your
people with the gospel. I am grateful you have entrusted me with the good news of
Jesus.

• CONFESSION: Forgive me for not clearly being salt and light to those around me
who need Jesus. Forgive me for not speaking of Jesus as our only hope. Change
me and empower my witness for Jesus.

• PETITION: “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come
to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6). Lord Jesus, evangelism cannot be
separated from prayer. Lead me often to pray into this spiritual lostness. Remind
me often that prayer cannot be separated from evangelism, and I am called to
proclaim Jesus as the only way.

• WORD: “... we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but
also our own lives because you had become very dear to us” (1 Thessalonians 2:8
NASB). Holy Spirit, lead me to those needing Jesus and empower my witness of
life and words.
