Let’s prayerfully read James Chapter 1 for a second time. (Estimated time 3 – 5 minutes… Come on, you can do it!) – i.e. we are GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS of simply meditating on Scripture.
Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs. 5 – 8 –“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, 8 being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.”
Reflecting on the text, answer the following questions:
When you experience trials, what is a good request to ask God? __________________.
How can you expect God to answer your request of faith? ___________________.
Why should you not doubt? _____________________________________________.
APPLY THE WORD: Identify a trial you are facing; ‘do the book’ by praying for God’s presence and promises in your challenges. Look for an opportunity to find joy in your journey.
PRAYER PROMPT: “Abba Father, as I face the trial of ____________________________, I come boldly to Your throne of grace and ask for __________________________________. I acknowledge that You are on Your throne and working all things together for good, for I humbly pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.”
