Back to the Basics Devo Day 7 - August 7

We are GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS as new rhythms of school and life resume this week. Let’s simply read the Word & reflect on James Chapter 1 once again. (Are you beginning to recall the chapter during your daily routines? The goal is to ‘think’ the Bible, so we can live it).

Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs. 22 – 25 – “be doers of the word and not hearers only, … if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face in a mirror goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of person he was.”

• What is to be the goal of our intake of the Bible? _____________________ 
• What does it mean to ‘do the Word?’ _______________________________
• Why is it dangerous to just ‘hear the Word’ without putting it into practice?

Pause & Reflect on your reading of James chapter 1 (now for 7 days); Which one of these verses have you done? (i.e. – growing in spiritual maturity V.4, asking for wisdom in trials V.5, becoming a better listener V.19, etc.) Celebrate ‘doing the book.’ Write out a prayer expressing to God’s Spirit your desire to ‘do’ more of His Book!
