Let’s read James chapter 3 with the goal that repetition leads us to deeper meditation on the Word throughout the day. Are any words and phrases becoming familiar to you? 

Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs. 6 – 12 and answer several inductive questions:

• What are the dangers of our tongue? 
• “the tongue is a _________________” V6 
• “the tongue _______________the whole body” V.6. 
• “the tongue is set on fire by __________” V.6
• “the tongue cannot be ____________” V.7,8
• “the tongue is full of deadly __________” V.8

    Sadly, our tongues can be used to hurt others & we are hurt by others’ tongues.

• When you bless God and then speak negatively of someone, this is a perplexing inconsistency. 

PRAYER PROMPT FOR CONFESSION: “Abba Father, I confess using my tongue to speak negative and critical words is a sin. I confess specifically (times & people you hurt) ___________________________________________________________________________. My heart is filled with godly sorrow, and I humbly ask you to forgive me by the precious blood of Your Son. Create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit in me, Amen.”
