Back to the Basics Devo Day 21 - August 21

Let’s GET BACK TO THE BASICS of simply reading and reflecting on James chapter 4. Do any words or verses stand out to you? 

Let’s ZOOM INTO verses 13–17 which speak about ‘travel plans.’ Do you have travel plans to go somewhere? Fill in the following to go deeper in reflection on the text: 

• V. 14 - “you do not know what ___________will bring—what your life will be! For you are like _______that appears for a little while, then vanishes.” Write out what this means. _____________________________________________________________________. (i.e. My life is ‘tissue-paper’ thin.)
• V.15 – “Instead, you should say, ‘____________, we will live and do this or that.’” How would you explain this to a friend? 
• V.17 – “So it is sin to know __________and yet not do it.” Have you ever thought of sin as some good you were not doing? This is the sin of omission.

PAUSE & PRAY – “Heavenly Father, as I consider plans to (name an upcoming trip),____________________________ I humbly confess ‘if it is your will’ I will do this. I celebrate that You are mindful of all my ways, and that You care for my life. Please use my temporary time on earth for your eternal purposes, Amen.”
