BLESS Every Home Devo Day 10 - September 4

Let’s set our hearts on H.E.A.R. (ing) from the Lord as we prayerfully read  the Gospel of Luke, chapter 14.
  • H. – highlight – i.e. Prayerfully take time to highlight or underline the words or phrases that stick out most to you.
  • E. – explain - Thoughtfully write out in your own words what you understand and why it’s significant.
  • A. – apply – i.e. – consider ways this passage connects to your life.
  • R. – respond – i.e. – prayerful response with your heart to the Word for transformation.

Write your responses to your H.E.A.R. prompts and discuss with a near one or group. Look for opportunities ‘to do the book’ in your daily traffic patterns.

Let’s ZOOM INTO Vs.34, 35 -
â€œNow, salt is good, but if salt should lose its taste, how will it be made salty? it isn't fit for the soil or for the manure pile; they throw it out. Let anyone who has ears to hear listen.”

Notice – Jesus says that salt plays a role in manure.
Salt helps break down fresh excrement for better plant absorption. The minerals also prevent dunghills from rotting and becoming useless for providing nutrients to crops. As Jesus warns of losing our saltiness, he's not describing table salt, he's describing fertilizer salt. Yes, as the salt of the earth, we are agents of human flourishing. Jesus is calling us to be fertilizer in his kingdom. Although salt never loses its flavor we as Christians can lose our effectiveness.

Pause and Pray – “Abba Father, may I become full of Your Spirit to be an effective witness as salt, cultivating fertile soil for the seed of the Gospel to take root in hearts and flourish. I specifically pray you would use me as salt as I relate to people ___________________(at my work, school, neighborhood, gym, etc.) for we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen!”
