TODAY is the day we have been waiting for all week long, The Lord’s Day of resurrection! This is the day we celebrate God’s great faithfulness to us as a church, for today 40 years ago we began as a new church in SW Florida!
Let’s set our hearts on H.E.A.R. (ing) from the Lord as we prayerfully read the O.T. book of 2 Kings, chapter 2. (the text for today’s sermon).
Write your responses to your H.E.A.R. prompts and discuss with a near one or group. Look for opportunities ‘to do the book’ in your daily traffic patterns.
Let’s ZOOM INTO V.19 – 22. The water of the city was bad, causing the land to be unproductive. The prophet Elisha went ‘upstream’ and poured a bowl of salt in the spring, causing the water to be ‘healed.’ The ‘downstream problem’ of bad water was resolved by an ‘upstream solution’ of salt. Interesting, isn’t it?
Pause & prayerfully Imagine: The church becoming an ‘upstream solution’ to the ‘downstream problems’ of Sarasota and the surrounding areas. Pray identifying ‘downstream problems’ in our area (divorce, hopelessness of teens, opioid addiction, family separation, ____________ name additional ones… ) Ask the Lord to reveal to us as a church ways we can become ‘upstream SALT solutions’ for these problems.
